Description

1987-88 Michael Jordan Game Worn Chicago Bulls Jersey, MEARS A10. After becoming just the second man (after Wilt Chamberlain) to score 3,000 points in a season in 1986-87, all eyes were on this young Bull as the 1987-88 campaign began. Those fans were in for a treat. Jordan would average a staggering thirty-five points a game on 53.5% shooting to defend his NBA scoring title, and earn his first of five NBA Most Valuable Player Awards. And, of course, this was the year that Jordan launched from the free throw line to send his hometown crowd into hysterics and claim his second consecutive Slam Dunk Competition victory, one of the premier clips in MJ's career highlight reel.

This home white mesh gamer exhibits game wear characterized as "moderate" and "consistent" by the experts at MEARS, who assign their highest rating to the garment. Bulls 23" is screened to the chest in red and black, with the digits repeated in identical format on reverse. "Jordan" spans shoulders in red. Lower left front tail holds the full compendium of manufacturer's tagging: "MacGregor Sand-Knit [size] 44" with Bulls Exclusivity secondary label, and embroidered swatches reporting vintage (87) and tailoring modifications (3" LB).

Pre-Championship gamers from Jordan are considerably more rare than those deriving from the twin three-peats, and this top-tier specimen marks a major turning point for the game's greatest figure. A rare and exciting opportunity for the advanced Jordan collector. LOA from MEARS, A10. LOA from Heritage Auctions.
