Description

1972 Munich Summer Olympics Bronze Medal Presented for Basketball to Cuban Player. Designed by Gerhard Marcks and produced at the Bavarian Mint, the offered medal is crafted from 130 grams of bronze, and measures 66 millimeters in diameter. Seated victory holds a laurel wreath and palm branch before the Colosseum on obverse, giving way to mythological Roman twins Castor and Pollux on verso. Only 381 bronze medals were created for presentation at Munich.

This beauty was presented to a member of the Cuban team which took third place. Some oxidation appears on the left side of the front and on back as well. There is a hole on the top from where a ribbon would have been placed. Otherwise the condition is solid on the medal. "Basketball" is engraved and visible upon close inspection.
