Description

1961 Fleer Bill Russell #38 PSA Mint 9 - None Higher! The late Bill Russell was a Hall of Fame center for the Boston Celtics who is commonly referred to as one of the greatest players in NBA history. Known for his rebounding dominance and leadership on the court, Russell led the Celtics to 11 NBA championships in 13 seasons (1957 to '69), the last two titles of which were won with him serving as player/coach for the team. A five-time NBA MVP, Russell averaged 15.1 points and 22.5 rebounds per game. His induction into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame took place in 1975.

Offered is Russell's 1961 Fleer card, his first Fleer card, which captures the 6' 10" player in his prime. This example of card #38 is found in remarkable condition with vibrant colors, excellent centering, snow white borders and four razor-sharp corners. Though not his rookie card, this issue is still highly prized by collectors and would make a great addition to any serious Bill Russell/Boston Celtics collection. Graded PSA Mint 9. Of the more than 1,500 examples found in the PSA Pop Report, this is one of only 29 cards graded MINT with none rated higher.
