1986 Merchante Spanish Michael Jordan #163 PSA NM-MT 8 - Pop Five, None Higher! The 1986 Merchante Spanish Michael Jordan #163 card is a rare international gem from a limited regional issue, produced in Spain as part of a 260-card multi-sport set released by the trading card company Merchante. Distributed primarily in vending-style packs, these cards were part of a promotional release and are exceptionally scarce in high grade due to their fragile cardstock and limited production run. Jordan appears as one of the very few basketball players included, a testament to his growing global fame even in the early years of his NBA career. Unlike standard American issues, the Merchante cards are smaller in size, measuring just 2" x 3", and were often overlooked by collectors outside Europe until the modern surge in international interest.Card #163 is particularly desirable not only for its rarity and international provenance but also for its distinctive reverse-side design. The back of the card doubles as a full-color Converse advertisement for the Startech Hi sneaker, one of the models Jordan endorsed before his exclusive Nike deal took center stage.
