Description

A true Fighting Irish rarity!

1899 Notre Dame vs. Chicago Physicians & Surgeons Football Program - One of the Oldest Notre Dame Programs in Existence! Notre Dame football began in 1887, steadily building its reputation. By the 1899 season, under coach James McWeeney, the team demonstrated notable development. That year, Notre Dame finished with a 6-3-1 record. However, a significant event was their Thanksgiving Day game against the Chicago Physicians and Surgeons. In a tough and unexpected match, Notre Dame lost 0-5, a rare shutout that underscored the challenges they faced. Despite this setback, the 1899 season was crucial for Notre Dame, as it highlighted areas for improvement and marked a step in their journey toward becoming a powerhouse in college football.

Here we present the oldest Notre Dame football program that we've handled, and one of the oldest from the storied collegiate football program in existence. Measuring 6x9", it includes 30 pages, while it appears to have one page torn out. Unscored and amazing, it remains in fragile condition, and there is a 1.5" tear that goes through every page in the program. A vibrant cover with solid color and some light writing is presented, while an image of the Notre Dame gymnasium takes up the back cover.
