Description

1956-58 Frank "Home Run" Baker Single Signed Baseball.
Update: A PSA Full LOA is included with this lot.

"I heard a fella say once he'd rather have a rose bud when he was alive than to have a whole rose garden thrown his way after he is gone. It looks like they've thrown the roses my way while I'm still here." That was "Home Run" Baker's reaction to his long overdue enshrinement in the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1955, more than three decades after he retired as a member of the 1922 New York Yankees.

That long absence from the public eye is certainly the culprit for the dearth of Baker singles in the hobby today--in fact, this is just the fourth we've ever offered. It's also arguably the finest, the only one featuring the nickname as inextricably linked to his persona as "Three Finger" Brown's and "Shoeless Joe" Jackson's.

That 8.5/10 signature commands the side panel of an ONL (Giles) ball dual-stamped for use in the Western League under the presidency of O'Neal Hobbs, who held the post for the three years of our lot title. Full LOA from PSA/DNA.
