1998 Michael Jordan "The Last Shot" Original Photograph by Mike
Proebsting, PSA/DNA Type 1. The date was June 14, 1998, Game 6
of the NBA Finals against the Utah Jazz. With the Bulls trailing
86-85 and under 20 seconds remaining, Jordan stole the ball from
Karl Malone in the post and calmly brought it upcourt. With 10
seconds left, he isolated against Bryon Russell, crossed him over,
and hit a 20-foot jumper with 5.2 seconds remaining, giving Chicago
an 87-86 lead. The Bulls would hold on to win, clinching their
sixth NBA championship of the 1990's.The shot capped off a remarkable Finals performance from Jordan, who scored forty-five points in that game and was named NBA Finals MVP for the sixth time. His performance under pressure cemented his legacy as one of the greatest clutch performers in sports history. That moment, often simply called "The Last Shot," symbolizes the peak of Jordan's dominance and competitive fire. It was his final play in a Bulls uniform, marking the end of an era in Chicago and the NBA.
The most famous photo of this heroic dagger was snapped exactly a second earlier, with Jordan and the ball both still aloft, but here Jordan has returned to earth while the ball (and the hopes of the dejected audience) have fallen. The 8x10" photograph by Illinois-based photographer Mike Proebsting presents in Mint condition and is one of a very small handful of Type 1 images of this signature Jordan moment in the PSA/DNA population.
