Rare Olympic hardware from The Land Down Under...

2000 Sydney Summer Olympics Bronze Medal Presented to Russian Javelin Thrower Sergey Makarov.
The son of the 1980 Silver Medalist, and the husband of the former Russian world record holder, Sergey Makarov made javelin history of his own at the Sydney Games, where his 88.67 meter toss earned him his first of two appearances upon an Olympic podium. That distance would prove to be the best he ever recorded in fifteen years of major international competition.

Here's the medal placed around Makarov's neck, a classic design featuring a wreath-holding Victory figure on obverse and the Olympic rings on verso, where, "Athletics, Men's Javelin Throw" is engraved along edge. Original ribbon remains attached, affixed with two small Olympic-related pins.

Weight is 170 grams, diameter sixty-eight millimeters (68 mm.). Minor storage wear evident, but aesthetics remain very strong.
