Description
Perfection from The Left Arm of God!
1965 Sandy Koufax Signed Perfect Game Used Chicago Cubs Dugout
Line-Up Card. On September 9, 1965, Sandy Koufax delivered one
of the most masterful performances in baseball history, pitching a
perfect game for the Los Angeles Dodgers against the Chicago Cubs
at Dodger Stadium. Koufax faced twenty-seven batters and retired
them all, striking out fourteen, including the final six in
succession. His fastball and curveball were virtually untouchable,
showcasing his dominance and poise on the mound. It was the fourth
no-hitter of his career and the only perfect game. Koufax's duel
with Cubs pitcher Bob Hendley, who allowed just one hit and one
unearned run, made the game even more remarkable. The only run
scored without a hit, highlighting the razor-thin margin Koufax had
to work with. This performance came during one of the greatest
stretches in pitching history, as Koufax was in the midst of a
season where he went 26-8 with a 2.04 ERA, further cementing his
Hall of Fame legacy.Presented is the line-up card that hung in the Chicago Cubs dugout where such Hall of Fame legends as Ernie Banks, Billy Williams and Ron Santo hoped in vain for any success against the superstar southpaw. The roster is filled out in the hand of Cubs manager Lou Klein and is autographed by Koufax and iconic Dodgers announcer Vin Scully. Card measures 11x6.25" and is folded horizontally into quarters. A Steiner hologram appears on reverse.
Included is a notarized letter of provenance from the Dodger Stadium usher who removed the card from the dugout wall after the game and later acquired the autographs. Also here is a letter from the Dodgers regarding an attempt to get Koufax's autograph and a voided proof ticket for the 1965 World Series. This item was formerly displayed at Dodger Stadium as part of a special exhibit. A copy of the Dodgers loan agreement is included. Full LOA from PSA/DNA.
