1990s Walter Payton & Gale Sayers Dual-Signed Football. Walter Payton and Gale Sayers are connected as two of the greatest running backs in Chicago Bears history, each representing different eras but sharing a legacy of excellence and inspiration. Though they never played together-Sayers retired in 1971 and Payton debuted in 1975-they were often compared for their unique styles: Sayers for his speed and elusiveness, Payton for his power and endurance.
