1953-55 Boston Celtics Don Barksdale & Bob Cousy High Jump Oversized Photo PSA Type I. Don Barksdale and Bob Cousy were connected as pioneering teammates on the Boston Celtics during the early 1950s. Barksdale, who joined the Celtics in 1953, was the team's first Black player and one of the earliest African American All-Stars in NBA history, breaking barriers during a time of limited integration in professional basketball. Cousy, already a rising star and future Hall of Fame point guard, supported Barksdale's presence and was known for advocating racial equality, making their connection significant both on the court and in the context of social progress within the NBA.The offered photograph of the hardwood stars showcasing athleticism was once part of Red Auerbach's personal collection. Measures 11x14". Edge tears, toning and wear exhibited. Letter of provenance from The Red Auerbach Estate. LOA from PSA/DNA, Type 1.
