1979 New York Yankees vs. Chicago White Sox Thurman Munson Last Game Ticket Stub, PSA Good 2. Thurman Munson's legacy is that of a gritty, beloved leader and one of the most respected catchers of his era. As the first captain of the New York Yankees since Lou Gehrig, Munson led by example, combining tough defense, clutch hitting, and emotional intensity. He was a seven-time All-Star, 1970 AL Rookie of the Year, and 1976 AL MVP, playing a central role in the Yankees' 1977 and 1978 World Series championships. His tragic death in a 1979 plane crash at age 32 stunned the baseball world, cutting short a remarkable career. Munson is remembered as the heart and soul of the Yankees during the 1970s.Offered is a ticket stub to a Aug. 1, 1979, matchup between the New York Yankees and Chicago White Sox, which was tragically the final game of Munson's career.
