1928-30 Joe Cronin Game Used Rookie-Era Bat, PSA/DNA GU 9. The future American League president and Hall of Famer had made just fifty Major League appearances, all for the Pittsburgh Pirates, as he entered the 1928 season for the start of a seven-season stretch in our nation's capital. This signature model Hillerich & Bradsby exhibits outstanding use in support of the long-suffering Senators, a period that included Cronin's best statistical season (1930) with a .346 batting average, sixty-three extra base hits and 126 runs batted in. The barrel reveals plentiful ball marks and cleat divots, while the cracked and repaired handle bears the pale shadows of two rings of grip tape that dried up and fell off over the decades since the bat's service to Cronin.Cronin bats are very rare, with this representing the very first example that Heritage has been privileged to present to the collecting community.
