Description

1908 Ty Cobb Slides Home in World Series Original Photograph, PSA/DNA Type 1. Extraordinary image finds the Georgia Peach sliding safely home in the 1908 World Series, a Fall Classic that would swell in fame for over a century as the victorious Chicago Cubs failed to return to the sport's mountain top until 2016. Cobb scored only a single run in the two Windy City contests, and this shot captures that moment as he beats Cubs catcher Johnny Kling to the plate after tagging up at third on an eighth inning sacrifice fly in Game Three. This would prove to be the only Tigers victory. Back of photo is blank. Measures 8x10". Light wear on the corners is easily forgivable when considering the appeal of the spectacular action shot itself and the supreme significance of the subject. Encapsulated by PSA/DNA, Type 1.
