Description

1980 Johnny Bench Game Worn Cincinnati Reds Jersey. Though this leading figure of the Big Red Machine would end his seventeen seasons of faithful service to Cincinnati in 1983, the 1980 campaign marks his last of thirteen in the Reds' starting catcher role. The presented road knit gamer exhibits light wear from that transitional campaign, marking the closing chapter of what was arguably the greatest career ever executed while wearing "the tools of ignorance."

Jersey chest is adorned with a red tackle twill number "5" and arched "Cincinnati", with verso boldly reporting "Bench 5" in similar fashion. The tail contains a washed out "80" year swatch while the collar holds a period "Wilson size 44" manufacturer's label. Bench sealed the deal with a 10/10 black felt tip signature on front and "Catch ya Later" inscription. LOA from Heritage Auctions. Full LOA from PSA/DNA. Auction LOA from SGC Authentic.
