Description

1940's Hugh Gallarneau Game Worn Chicago Bears Jersey. A third round selection by the Chicago Bears in 1941, halfback Hugh "Duke" Gallarneau helped transform the Stanford collegiate football program into a winner, when it introduced the T formation. Along with his Stanford teammates Frankie Albert, Pete Kmetovic and Norm Standlee, Gallarneau helped round out the core of the team that was known as "The Wow Boys," and that special group led the team to a victory over Nebraska in the 1941 Rose Bowl.

Presented here is Gallarneau's navy blue jersey that he wore during his time with George Halas' Bears of the 1940's. One the earliest Bears jerseys we've handled, it originates from Gallarneau, and is accompanied by a signed letter of provenance from the Duke himself. Displaying shiny orange twill numerals on the front and back, it has the proper "May & Halas" tagging in the interior tail. Exhibiting solid but not excessive wear, it will surely stand out in any advanced Bears collection. Letter of provenance from Hugh Gallarneau. Pre-Certified by PSA/DNA. LOA from Heritage Auctions.
