Description

1909 E102 "Set of 25" Christy Mathewson PSA Poor 1. From the John Esch collection. Considering how immensely popular and talented Christy Mathewson was by the 1910-era his name is mis-spelled "Mattewson" on more than one candy issue. This horizontal portrait is considered one of his best portraits overall of the entire era. It comes as no surprise that Mathewson serves as one of most desirable components within the E102 roster. The obverse offers an absolutely beautiful portrait surrounded by a slightly wider width frame. The height is an exact 2 3/4". Obvious reverse surface loss. Graded PSA Poor 1. There have yet to be fifty examples graded by PSA.
