1912 La Azora Cigars Ty Cobb Schedule Card (Fielding) SGC 30 Good 2 - None Higher! Arguably the most inaccessible of all trading cards celebrating the premier batsman of the Dead Ball era, the postcard-sized La Azora Cigar schedule cards have survived the last 110 years since their 1912 date of issue in obscurity and in the smallest of populations. Almost an entire century had passed before collectors were even made aware of their existence. Currently, there are four different poses, all featuring Ty Cobb! Our offered card is the "Fielding" pose. There are also depictions of Cobb sliding, running, and wonderful portrait of Cobb relaxing on the field with as warm a smile as can be. The backs have game schedules for either the home or away (Abroad) games for the 1912 season. Due to one known intact survivor, we know the cards circulated in the form of uncut 2-card folded panels. Each is an incredibly rare entry where - hopefully - there are new unearthed examples.Graded SGC 30 Good 2. This full figure portrait is unique to this series. Inducements to smoke, "BEFIRE, AFTER AND DURING THE GAME" and an invitation to "Visit our Model Factory and see how we make the world's best 10c smoke" adorn the backs. It is known La Azora advertised at Tigers Stadium and had a factory in Detroit. There are no major creases but one small one in the lower left with small spots of surface loss. The left edge is rough from separation and there are mild signs of handling. There are three examples graded GOOD with none rated higher from a total population of only six.
