Description

1983 George Brett Pine Tar Game Ticket Stub, PSA VG 3--Pop One, None Superior! The particular game that this ticket stub hails from is popularly known as "The Pine Tar Game," a game in which George Brett hit a homerun with a bat which was covered in pine tar that extended up the barrel, and that home plate umpire Tim McClelland ruled illegal, and the homerun invalid. "I had never seen anyone as mad as George Brett on that day," said Hall of Fame Yankees closer Goose Gossage, who had surrendered what was, and then was not, and then ultimately was again the dramatic game-winner. McClelland was narrowly saved by crew chief and second base umpire Joe Brinkman, who managed to horse-collar the raging Brett a moment before he flattened McClelland. Encapsulated by PSA, VG 3.
