1996 San Diego Padres Team Signed Baseball. The 1996 San Diego Padres had a breakthrough season, finishing with a 91-71 record and winning the National League West for the first time since 1984. Managed by Bruce Bochy, the team was led by a strong core that included Tony Gwynn, Ken Caminiti, Steve Finley, and a solid pitching staff featuring Andy Ashby and Trevor Hoffman. Caminiti had a career year, winning the NL MVP award. The Padres combined veteran leadership with timely hitting and dependable pitching to outpace division rivals. Although they were swept by the St. Louis Cardinals in the NLDS, the season marked a key turning point in the franchise's resurgence.Offered is a Rawlings ONL-Coleman baseball signed by thirty members of the squad.
