Description

1964 Cassius Clay vs. Sonny Liston First Bout Vintage Photographs, Lot of 8. The first Muhammad Ali vs. Sonny Liston boxing match took place on February 25, 1964, in Miami Beach, Florida, and marked a significant turning point in professional boxing history. Ali, then known as Cassius Clay, entered the fight as a heavy underdog against the reigning heavyweight champion, Sonny Liston, who was known for his powerful punching and intimidating presence. During the fight, Ali's speed, agility, and unorthodox style baffled Liston, leading to Liston failing to answer the bell for the seventh round, citing a shoulder injury, which resulted in Ali's victory by technical knockout. This victory not only crowned Ali as the new heavyweight champion but also launched his legendary career and established his reputation as a charismatic and controversial figure in the sport and beyond.

Offered are eight vintage photographs (8x10" or slightly smaller) from that bout. Mild to moderate toning and wear.
