Description

1936-47 Joe Louis Original Photographs, Lot of 10. Joe Louis' legacy is that of a boxing legend and a cultural icon whose impact extended far beyond the ring. Known as the "Brown Bomber," he reigned as heavyweight champion from 1937 to 1949, defending his title a record 25 times and becoming one of the most dominant champions in sports history. His 1938 victory over Max Schmeling carried deep symbolic weight, as it was seen as a triumph of American democracy over Nazi ideology on the eve of World War II. Beyond his achievements, Louis broke racial barriers, serving as a unifying figure in a segregated America and leaving a lasting mark as both a sporting hero and a pioneer of social progress.

Offered is an assortment of ten original photographs featuring the American hero. Sizes range from 8x10" or smaller, including cutouts. Markings, toning and creasing exhibited.
