Description

1888 N162 Goodwin "Champions' Sure Shot Dunlap SGC 30 Good 2. Issued by Old Judge and Gypsy Queen cigarettes, this set remains a favorite for many 19th century card collectors due to its gorgeous Victorian age lithography, picturing the game's greatest stars standing before glorious multi-hued skies right out of a painting by Claude Monet. Four of the eight baseball subjects are residents of Cooperstown. Offered is a clean and rich looking example of Pittsburgh Capt. Sure Shot Dunlap. Not a member of Cooperstown, Dunlap was the highest paid player in Major League Baseball from 1884 to 1889. Graded SGC 30 Good 2.
