Description

1910's Yale University Game Worn Helmet. While it may be difficult to imagine a day when the Ivy League was the dominant force on the American gridiron, the brainy bunch did hold that distinction for the first several decades of the collegiate game. Here is a rare and marvelously preserved relic from those early days in New Haven, a gorgeous leather helmet with sheepskin lining and "Yale" stamped at the brow line. Chin strap is missing, but otherwise this is an absolute marvel, surviving with just the slightest wear to the leather's edging. LOA from Lou Lampson. Guide Value or Estimate: $600 - $800.
