Description

1951 Brooklyn Dodgers Team Signed Baseball Used in Preacher Roe's Twentieth Win Game. The clear Cy Young Award winner for 1951, if such an award existed at the time, Brooklyn Dodgers pitcher Preacher Roe instead had to settle for The Sporting News' Pitcher of the Year honors for his final record this season of twenty-two wins against just three defeats. Presented here is a baseball Roe saved from his historic twentieth victory, notated on the side panel in his hand, "Sept. 14, 1951, Dodgers - 3, Pirates - 1, W - 20, L - 2, Preacher Roe." The ONL (Frick) ball shows fine use from this dominating performance, and bears the 9/10 autographs of teammates Robinson, Campanella, Reese, Snider, Hodges, Dressen, Pafko, Pitler, Furillo and Cox. The tough question now is how should you display the ball? Do you prefer Roe's inscription, or the panel signed by Campy, Pee Wee and Jackie? LOA from PSA/DNA. From the Personal Collection of Preacher Roe, with his letter of provenance.
