Description

1977-78 Jamaal Wilkes Game Worn Los Angeles Lakers Jersey - Rare Style! As Keith Wilkes at UCLA, he earned two first team All-America selections, teamed with Big Red to produce two undefeated seasons and helped The Wizard of Westwood ring up two more national titles. As a pro, his star power and winning ways reached new heights as a three-time all-star and four-time NBA champion, first at Golden State with Rick Barry and then in L.A. with Kareem, Magic and Worthy.

Wilkes flourished in both the half court and full court game, employing a smooth style which made "Silk" an obvious moniker. His ability as wingman on the break helped Magic usher in Showtime, and Earvin returned the favor by erasing the finest performance (thirty-seven points and ten rebounds in Game Six of the 1980 Finals) of Jamaal's career by posting forty-two and fifteen that same night.

Here is Silk's Forum Gold mesh home jersey from his very first season in L.A. What makes this jersey rare and special is that this is the last season the Lakers used predominantly white numeric identifiers.

Additionally, white/purple trim accentuates the ribbed collar and arm yokes and the absence of silky "Tiernan, Glendale, Calif." label in the front tail is no cause for concern, as this was a common occurrence for the manufacturer during this period. Our catalog and online imagery will adequately convey the season long wear exhibited on this fine exemplar. LOA from Heritage Auctions.
