Description

Circa 1982 Craig James Game Worn SMU Jersey. The lesser known half of "the Pony Express," Craig James, could certainly run in his own right. He set a Holiday Bowl rushing record (225 yards in one of college football's most memorable games) and once scored on a ninety-six yard pass, the longest in SMU history.

This early 1980's road jersey is a portal fishnet variety with the high cut stomach used extensively during the era. The "32" numerals and "SMU" are screened on in 2-color heavy appliqué, a necessity due to the use of portal mesh. The NOB is sewn onto a traditional mesh plate, which is affixed to the upper jersey back. All fonts are correct. The jersey sports a "Fab Knit size XL" inner collar flap tag and a "Fab Knit" generic tail label. The wear is solid with four minor repairs and some numeral scuffing on the verso. A fantastic SMU representation dating from just before the "Death Penalty" choked the life from the Dallas program and ended the glory days of James and Dickerson. LOA from Lou Lampson.
