Description

1979 Jim Palmer Game Worn Baltimore Orioles Jersey. He dedicated all nineteen seasons of his Hall of Fame career to the Baltimore Orioles, becoming in 1985 the fourth man to have his jersey retired by a grateful franchise. Palmer earned three Cy Young Awards during his Hall of Fame career, and owns the third-lowest career ERA (2.856) of the Live Ball Era. He remains the only man to win a World Series start in three different decades.

The offered road gray finds the thirty-three-year old legend as a vital cog in the 1979 A.L. champions' rotation, a season characterized by a solid 10-6 record and a fourth consecutive Gold Glove. The classic jersey design is instantly familiar, with orange and black tackle twill reporting, "Orioles 22" on the chest and "Palmer 22" on verso. Black/orange/white trim accentuates the ribbed collar and sleeve cuffs. Interior collar holds a "Wilson 44" label with an "79 1" swatch residing in the tail.

This exemplar exhibits solid but not excessive wear, including nice inner collar and button path toning. Completely original. A beauty, just like it's original owner. LOA from Heritage Auctions.
