1988-89 Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Game Worn Los Angeles Lakers Jersey -- Photo Matched to 1990 Jersey Retirement Ceremony! Kareem Abdul-Jabbar enjoyed a legendary career with the Los Angeles Lakers from 1975 to 1989, solidifying his status as one of the greatest players in NBA history. After being traded from the Milwaukee Bucks, Abdul-Jabbar immediately made an impact in Los Angeles, winning MVP awards in 1976, 1977, and 1980 while leading the league in scoring and rebounding multiple times during the late 1970's. Standing 7'2" with unmatched footwork and a signature skyhook shot, he was nearly unstoppable in the paint.

As the centerpiece of the Lakers' "Showtime" era, Abdul-Jabbar teamed with Magic Johnson to form a dynasty. He helped the Lakers capture five NBA championships in the 1980s-in 1980, 1982, 1985, 1987, and 1988. Over fourteen seasons with Los Angeles, he averaged 22.1 points, 9.4 rebounds, and 2.5 blocks per game. He retired as the NBA's all-time leading scorer with 38,387 points.

The Hall of Fame center identifies the jersey as game worn in his included letter of provenance--we would characterize that wear as minimal, leaving all tagging and identifiers factory-crisp. "Lakers 33" on chest made its last appearance with this jersey, as did "Abdul-Jabbar 33" on verso. Lower left front tail bears dual "Sand-Knit" tagging with Lakers exclusivity and [size] 44" language respectively. To the left are embroidered swatches for year (88) and tailoring (4" LB).
