Description

With a letter of provenance from the iconic Hall of Famer

1960 Montreal Canadiens Stanley Cup Championship Ring Presented to Henri Richard. Three inches shorter and fifteen years younger than his legendary brother Maurice, Henri Richard was dubbed "The Pocket Rocket" by an adoring fanbase that was supplied by an astonishing eleven Stanley Cups during Henri's twenty-one seasons in a Canadiens jersey, the top tally for any player in NHL history. Presented is the symbol of the Richard brothers' final joint Championship, as Maurice's growing laundry list of injuries compelled his retirement announced at a September 15, 1960 press conference.

This particular Championship's status as Rocket's last, and as the final edition of a five season ownership of Lord Stanley's coveted Cup, elevates the few 1959-60 Canadiens rings to have surfaced in the collecting hobby to the upper reaches of desirability for hockey jewelry. Certainly the direct provenance to an iconic Hall of Famer is a major amplification of appeal.

Raised lettering encircling the ring face translates from the French to "Five Consecutive Stanley Cups." A silver miniature of that most famous of hockey trophies appears at center. Left shank provides the Canadiens logo and the text, "H. Richard," while the right notes the years at the top of the NHL heap with the League logo seal. Interior band measures to a size ten and is stamped "Everest 10K." Condition is pristine. Originally sold in the famous 2001 Henri Richard Auction. Letter of provenance from Henri Richard.
