1985 Michael Jordan Rookie Original News Photograph, PSA/DNA Type 1. There's a fascinating article about this January 14, 1985 contest online entitled, "Michael Jordan's First Ever Revenge Game," recalling the fiery determination of this superstar rookie anxious to atone for a poor performance against the Denver Nuggets and their defensive specialist T.R. Dunn in his fifth NBA game.

"He didn't forget," said Bulls assistant coach Fred Carter. "When Denver came to our building, later on, Michael hurt his ankle in the third quarter, and we wanted him out of the game, which we were winning. He just kept saying, 'I gotta play. I gotta play.' And he went back out there and finished up with a triple-double on T.R. Dunn. Message sent and received. The next day in practice, I said, 'Michael, take it easy. Let the ankle heal.' I'll never forget what he said: 'No, I can't, Coach. I'll lose my rhythm.' And he practiced hard that day on an ankle nobody would have even played on."

Was this the tumble that set Jordan up for his heroic turn? It certainly looks possible. Let's also make it clear that the caption that appears along the right edge is glued to the image surface--this is, in fact, the original image from which "wire photos" were created for transmission. Verso bears a few editorial notations. Dimensions 10x8". NRMT condition. Encapsulated by PSA/DNA, Type 1.
