Population one, only one superior!

1911 Imperial Tobacco C55 George Vézina Rookie #38 PSA NM+ 7.5. Georges Vézina was a legendary goaltender who played his entire professional career with the Montreal Canadiens from 1910 to 1925. Renowned for his calm demeanor and consistent play, Vézina helped lead Montreal to two Stanley Cup championships, in 1916 and 1924. He was the first goaltender in NHL history to record a shutout and remains a central figure in the early history of professional hockey. Known for his endurance, Vézina played 328 consecutive regular-season games before illness forced him to leave the ice in 1925. He tragically passed away from tuberculosis later that year, but his legacy endures, notably as a member of the inaugural induction class of the Hockey Hall of Fame.

Presented is the second-finest example of Vézina's essential rookie card that appears in the PSA population, deriving from the storied Imperial Tobacco C55 issue that could be considered the sport's equivalent to the T206 baseball set despite its relatively limited number of subjects and production run. Vézina is certainly the key card from the release, trading at values many multiples those of its closest rivals.

The early 20th century aesthetics provide an elegance fitting for the subject matter, once again redolent of the T206 issue that anchors the early years of the baseball card collecting hobby. Colors remain bright and vibrant and centering borders on perfection. Surfaces are clean. Minimal corner wear appears responsible for most if not all of points lost. The solitary superior example is only a half-grade above this eye-popping PSA NM+ 7.5 assessment.
