Gehrig's personal keepsake from his only MVP season!

1936 New York Yankees Team Signed Baseball from The Lou Gehrig Collection.

UPDATE: The autographs of DiMaggio and Gomez have been deemed secretarial.

His sole MVP Award. A return to World Championship glory after three quiet Octobers. It's easy to see why the veteran first baseman chose to retain a souvenir of the 1936 New York Yankees.

With Babe Ruth enjoying his first season of retirement, and Joe DiMaggio only beginning to assert his dominance, we find Lou Gehrig properly claiming the sweet spot of this OAL (Harridge) baseball for himself, stepping into a long blocked by the Babe's outsized shadow. Gehrig's black fountain pen ink projects at 5/10, the average strength among the eighteen autographs present. Joining him on the tanned hide, and later in Cooperstown, are Lazzeri (8/10), Dickey (1.5/10), Ruffing (3/10), Gomez (3/10) and DiMaggio (8/10). Other notables include Selkirk, Pearson, Hadley, Heffner and Brown.

Intriguingly, we find a small "L.G." notation on the "Reach" manufacturer's logo, clearly a notation made in the dugout to ensure that the ball would find its way into Gehrig's possession. Unquestionably one of the most historic Yankees team balls we've had the good fortune to present to the collecting community. Full LOA from PSA/DNA. Letter of provenance from consignor.
