Description

1933 Goudey Jim Bottomley #44 Printer's Proofs and Library of Congress Copyright Patent Card Group (5). Offered is a group of 5 cards that present an insight into the business side of producing the cards we so much admire. To secure the copyright for their classic 1933 baseball card set, Goudey Gum needed to send two of every card to the US Copyright Office. Included is this unique patent card, with the unmistakable back stamps of "JUN -1 1933" and "CIA A 122265" that clearly sets apart this otherwise standard card. A second card, one that made it into packs is also included, graded PSA VG 3. A third card is the original Library of Congress registration card for card #44. In addition to these three items is a pair of printer's proofs. The first possibly unique printer's proof has been hand cut to size and shows only the dark blue of the final card. A second proof shows light blue, brown, peach, tan, and red that give us that unmistakable "BIG LEAGUE Chewing Gum" banner. Both proofs have a blank back and presents at the near mint level. A fascinating look into the politics and process of printing the cards we all admire and collect. Total 5 cards.
