Description

1914 H813-3 Boston Garter Eddie Collins - The Only Graded Example. The extremely rare 1914 Boston Garter Sepia series contains only ten baseball subjects, but half are members of Baseball's Hall of Fame. Each example of these window display cards is hotly pursued because one can only guess when the next will become available. This set is so incredibly rare, SGC has only graded five of the ten advertised subjects! Their rarity is explained on the reverse as only one card was placed inside a box of Boston Garters, and only for retailers. They were probably given to a store's best customer.

Offered is Hall of Fame second basemen Eddie Collins. Encapsulated SGC Authentic. This is the only example of Collins on record. No other Collins has been recorded by PSA. The card shows hand-cut edges, but every known example has this feature. One must wonder if they came that way to possibly fit inside the carton of garters. There is one crease near the upper left corner. Corners show acceptable amounts of wear. The reverse has staining and surface layering in the lower right on the reverse. The full-figure portrait of Collins is unique to the issue. A phenomenal card that goes a long way toward raising your collection to elite status.
