Playing his entire 17-season NHL career with the Pittsburgh Penguins, Lemieux scored 690 goals and 1,723 points despite battling serious health issues, including cancer and chronic back problems. He led the Penguins to two Stanley Cup titles as a player in the early 1990s and later as an owner in the 2000s, playing a key role in saving the franchise from relocation. A six-time scoring champion and three-time MVP, Lemieux combined power and finesse like few others, earning universal admiration. Inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1997 immediately after his first retirement, his legacy is defined by both unmatched talent and perseverance.
