Description

1985 Baseball Hall of Fame Induction Ring Presented to Lou Brock from The Lou Brock Collection. He grew up in the Jim Crow south idolizing the Brooklyn Dodgers and their pioneering black stars, men like Jackie Robinson and Roy Campanella who he'd join in Cooperstown immortality the day he was presented this ring. During Brock's 1962 rookie season, he became one of just four men in history to hit a home run into the center field bleachers of the Polo Grounds, though he'd make his name as a great singles hitter and base thief, racking up 3,023 hits and leading the National League in steals eight times and retiring with the career record. He'd earn enshrinement on his first ballot.

A genuine diamond is set into a black onyx stone on the ring face, encircled by raised text announcing, "Baseball Hall of Fame." Left shank is engraved "Outfielder" and "Elected 85," framing figural baseball imagery. Right shank is engraved "Lou Brock" above the Hall of Fame building in miniature, and engraved text reading, "The National Baseball Hall of Fame." Interior band is stamped "LGB 10K." Years of proud wear are evident, slightly dimming the engraved text on the shanks, but the ring still presents wonderfully. Size eleven and a half (11.5). Weight is twenty-nine grams (29 g.). Letter of provenance from Jacqueline Brock.
