Description

1970 "King Tiger" Trophy Presented to Al Kaline from The Al Kaline Collection. In 1970, still basking in the afterglow of the '68 championship, the most popular Tiger in town was honored with his first "Al Kaline Day," a most memorable event at which he was showered with many accolades and gifts, including this trophy which elevated his vaunted status from "Mr. Tiger" to "King Tiger."

Stunning design and a superb craftsmanship features a large figural batsman, in the likeness of Kaline, supported by a wood backdrop and base with an idealized Hellenic man overhead and a silver inscription plate which reads "King Tiger 1970 Al Kaline. Measures 13.75x6x16.5" and weighs 8.4 pounds. Letter of provenance from Mark Kaline.
