One of Five PSA Uncanceled Examples!

1923-24 V145-1 Patterson Bert Corbeau (Not Cancelled) #25 PSA Poor 1. The V145-1 William Patterson series from 1923 often represents the cornerstone of a vintage hockey collection. The forty-card set would be the first of two promotions and it would feature what would become to most sought-after rarity in the entire hockey universe - an otherwise typical card featuring Bert Corbeau of the Toronto St. Patricks. The V145-1 roster includes the biggest stars, both new and veteran alike, who helped make hockey Canada's National Pastime. Just over thirty players, including hockey legends King Clancy, Aurele Joliat, Howie Morenz among them, make their rookie card debuts.

Bert Corbeau is not famous for his skills on the ice, but rather for his status as one of the most famous rarities in all the hobby. As legend goes, William Paterson planned to limit the number of prizes (a pair of skates) consumers could exchange for a complete forty-card set. To achieve this, card #25 Corbeau saw an extremely limited circulation, stranding many young collectors at thirty-nine cards by design.

Graded PSA Poor 1. This card is one of only five uncanceled examples confirmed on the PSA census. The technical grade contradicts the eye appeal. The card looks like a strong "very-good to excellent" card with some corner wear and a wrinkle in the lower right. The reverse on the other hand show four areas near each corner with surface loss telling us this card was once mounted in some type of album or scrapbook.
