1888 N28 Allen & Ginter John Clarkson Baseball PSA NM-MT 8 - Only One Higher. John Clarkson, a Hall of Famer who won 328 games, was one of the top pitchers of 19th Century baseball. He played 12 seasons in the National League and had a stretch of his career when he was just lights out. For the Chicago White Stockings in 1885, Clarkson had a record of 53-16 with an ERA of 1.85. Then in 1889 for the Boston Beaneaters, he won the pitching Triple Crown with a record of 49-19, an ERA of 2.73, and 284 strikeouts. The 1887 Allen & Ginter set was multi-sport, with ten baseball players and six Hall of Famers being big draws. The 50-card World's Champions set has a brightly colored lithograph on the front. This offering presents an opportunity to possess one of the best examples. Graded PSA NM-MT 8. One of eight graded NM-MT with one higher.
