2013-14 Alex Ovechkin 400th NHL Goal Game Worn Washington Capitals Jersey -- Photo Matched to 12/20 vs. Hurricanes. As we've noted in the lot description for Ovechkin's 300th career goal jersey, the Russian superstar took complete control over his NHL wardrobe soon after his 400th goal, retaining almost every important gamer for his own collection and dooming any hopes of the supply of his jerseys ever even approaching the massive demand. The subject jersey exhibits fine wear from the December 20, 2013 contest at PNC Arena in Raleigh, North Carolina that saw him score his 29th goal of the season and number 400 of his illustrious career. It was an empty net goal to lock down the 4-2 victory over the Hurricanes. Only Gretzky, Bossy, Lemieux, Hull and Kurri reached the 400 milestone in fewer games.

The detailed letter from MeiGray also notes that Ovechkin scored number 399 wearing this jersey as well, in a 5-2 loss at Wells Fargo Center against the Philadelphia Flyers.

The star-spangled beauty announces "Washington Capitals" beneath the captain's "C" on the jersey chest, with "Ovechkin 8" taking up residence on verso. Sleeves repeat the digit in smaller format above a row of stars. Interior collar is tagged size "58," with "MeiGray Group, NHL Game-Worn Jersey 2013-2014 Season" label at lower rear interior tail. We find three fight straps nearby, at center back and each hip, a strange and fascinating customization done at the team (rather than Reebok) level. The unusual puckering resulting from the addition of a fight strap at the left hip assists in the MeiGray photo match documentation.
