1978 Muhammad Ali vs. Leon Spinks II On-Site Poster by Payton. Legions of local artists swarmed Bourbon Street and created there own versions of onsite posters to promote the fights, which were posted at the Superdome, all over the city and were also sold by local venders. Just like traditional on-site posters posted at arenas, these rare and unique works of art served same purpose--to get people to go to the fight. This was the only time in boxing history that so many different on-site posters were created to promote a bout.Muhammad Ali became the first boxer to win the heavyweight title on three separate occasions when he dispensed of Leon Spinks at the Super Dome September 15, 1978. The foreground shows Bourbon Street with a jazz band playing with the Superdome centered. Minimal corner wear is found on the EX poster. Matted and framed to 30.5x24" (23x16.5" visible in frame).
