Description

1909-11 T206 Lenox-Black Vic Willis (Throwing) PSA VG 3 - Only Two Confirmed Examples! Offered is one of only a handful of examples submitted to the west-coast grading service for this highly prized brand rarity. Victor Gazaway Willis was a star on the mound making his "Throwing" T206 depiction a natural choice. The 249-game winner only spent one season with St. Louis (1910) and then ending his career that started in 1898. This very rare T206 at first seems like your typical representative until one marvels at the purplish hue of the rare and heart racing "Lenox Cigarettes" ad printed in Black. This card is one of a selection of very rare backs in this auction featuring multiple Red/Brown Hindu, Uzit and Lenox Black & Brown examples - all featuring members of Baseball's Hall of Fame.

Graded PSA VG 3. The overall total PSA pop is almost 600 submissions (w/any qualified). Only two have been confirmed with a Lenox-Black brand back. This is the only card graded VG with one rated higher. This is one of those rare opportunities where due to rarity the condition really doesn't matter. If it does... this is a solid mid-grade card with slight surface scuffing on front (grassy area), no creases, no wrinkles, corner and some edge wear and a nicely centered portrait.
