Description

1887 N184 Kimball "Champions of Sports & Games" James "Tip" O'Neill PSA NM-MT 8- None Higher. While the N184 Kimball "Champions of Sports & Games" set has but four baseball players, James "Tip" O'Neill was probably the biggest champion within that quartet. His 1887 season for the St. Louis Browns was a campaign for the ages: he led the American Association in almost every offensive category, finishing with a lofty .435 batting average. He was a very good hitter, finishing with a career .326 mark, and was one of the great, early Canadian baseball players. Offered is a card featuring the Woodstock, Ontario-native from the 1887 N184 set that has a grade that is almost as impressive as his batting average that year- PSA NM-MT 8. A very rare card in a very rare grade. Only twenty-two graded at PSA, a population of one at this grade with none higher.
