1997-99 MLB Sluggers Milestone Home Runs Full Tickets, Lot of 3 - PSA. Barry Bonds, Mark McGwire, and Sammy Sosa are forever linked by their incredible home run feats during the late 1990s and early 2000s, a period often referred to as the "Steroid Era" in Major League Baseball. McGwire and Sosa captivated the nation in 1998 with their historic chase to break Roger Maris' single-season home run record, with McGwire ultimately hitting 70 and Sosa 66. Bonds then shattered McGwire's record in 2001 by hitting 73 home runs, setting a new single-season benchmark.
