Description
1963-65 Jim Parker Game Worn Jersey. Long considered one of the greatest linemen in NFL history, Parker emerged from an All-American career at Ohio State to serve as personal bodyguard for the great Johnny Unitas, earning eight Pro Bowl nods. Presented is a number "77" Baltimore Colts road jersey worn by Parker during the early to mid-1960's. The long sleeves feature embedded elbow padding, and the shoulder stripe braiding and "MacGregor" labeling isolate the jersey to the period in question. The six-button crotch piece is standard for many 1960's linemen, though somewhat unusual for the Colts and for Parker specifically, who tended to favor the straight tail cut. The blue tackle twill numerical identifiers on chest, back and sleeves are correct in color hue and font style and the tail tagging is splendidly complete: "MacGregor [size] 52, Bacharach Rasin Co. Distributors, washing instructions." There are two minor nylon durene runs, and minor front splitting of the numerals, between which we find a light spattering of blood that tells the tale of Parker's hard-nosed style. While a bit unorthodox in some regards for this 1973 Hall of Fame inductee, the jersey still remains an immensely desirable artifact from the man who made Johnny U. look so good.
