Description

1961-63 Eddie Mathews Game Used Bat. One of the most beloved Braves in team history, Mathews represented the club in three different cities, providing the team with 493 of his career's 512 home runs. The tremendous use evident in the abused grain of this signature model Hillerich & Bradsby S2 suggests that several of those long balls were delivered from its surface before a crack in the handle ended its long tenure in Eddie's Hall of Fame hands. Many ball and stitch impressions are visible upon the right, left and back barrel, and the ghost of spiral grip tape, since removed, can been seen on the handle. A small degree of chipping at the end of the barrel causes no concern. Number "41" appears in vintage marker on knob. Length and weight are thirty-five inches and thirty-two ounces respectively. A 9+/10 blue sharpie signature on the barrel is bolstered by a "512 HRs" notation in Mathews' hand. A solid example of a tough Hall of Fame bat, graded GU6.5. LOA from Taube & Malta (bat). LOA from PSA/DNA (autograph). LOA from James Spence Authentication (autograph).
