1958-60 Willie Mays Game Used Bat. One of just four players in Major League history with keys to both the 3,000 Hit and 500 Home Run clubhouses, Willie Mays also brought one of the game's best gloves to the outfield, putting him high on the short list of greatest ballplayers ever. Here we present a tool from the offensive half of that equation, exhibiting moderate use from a period that saw him posting Top Ten figures in every significant batting category. The Adirondack 63A matches Mays' factory ordering records in its model number and specifications of thirty-five inches and thirty-three ounces, favored during this tremendously productive time in his Hall of Fame career. Several ball marks and stitch impressions are visible on the right and back barrel, as well as a streaking of red and green bat rack marks. The handle is lightly scored to improve grip. A handle crack (repaired) ended a long, productive life in the hands of a legend, beginning a second incarnation as a top-shelf collectible. A lengthy inscription upon the barrel furthers the tremendous appeal, with 10/10 blue sharpie spelling, "Best Wishes, Willie Mays. 660 H.R., 3000 H, MVP 54 65, Home Run Champ #24." Mays' number "24" appears in marker on the knob, though our authenticators believe this was applied after Mays' retirement. Graded GU6.5. LOA from Taube & Malta. LOA from PSA/DNA (autograph).
