Description

1985 Phil Niekro Game Worn Jersey. The most successful knuckleball pitcher of all time, with 318 victories to his credit, Niekro rode that crazy, fluttering pitch all the way to Cooperstown. Here's a tough and eminently desirable Yankees home pinstriper from the season of the ageless trickster's 300th career win, a picture-perfect specimen garnering a grade of A10 from authenticator Dave Bushing. The traditional Bronx stylings feature "NY" logo over heart and Niekro's number "35" on verso, with the absence of the black memorial armband pegging the jersey to use prior to the August passing of clubhouse fixture Pete Sheehy. "Niekro 85 1" embroidered swatch is applied to inner collar, with proper "Wilson [size] 44" label affixed to left front tail. Apparent moderate wear is exactly right for pitching use. A 10/10 black sharpie signature beneath the chest emblem completes the package. Hall of Fame Yankees jerseys are always in fashion, and Niekro's two seasons of Big Apple service makes this one of the tougher finds. Odds are strong that you won't get another shot at one in the near future. LOA from Dave Bushing. LOA from Lou Lampson.
