Description

1988 Darryl Strawberry Silver Slugger Award. Had not a laundry list of personal problems plagued the career of this supremely gifted ballplayer, there would surely be a bronze plaque with Strawberry's face hanging in Cooperstown today. This prestigious award serves as some proof of the fact, issued to the New York Mets slugger following a season that saw him drive in over 100 runs and send thirty-nine long balls into the bleachers. A full-sized silver bat is mounted on a wooden stand bearing a Louisville Slugger logo and engraved plaque naming Strawberry as a "Member of The Sporting News National League Offensive Team, 1988." Other winners that season included Sandberg, Larkin and Gibson. Slight handling wear, but still presents beautifully. Originally acquired directly from Strawberry himself. Such noteworthy awards rarely surface in the hobby, so this is not an opportunity to be taken lightly.
